Release Date: June 19, 2026

Husband-and-wife duo Grace and Aaron Bond have built a towering reputation on a fierce, DIY independent streak. They’ve defied the traditional music industry roadmap, bypassing labels and corporate management to break into the UK Official Top 10 entirely on their own terms. Following 2025’s Addicted To You—a chart-topping release celebrated for its expansive, polished studio sheen—the band found themselves at a creative crossroads.

(from MNPR Magazine)

Instead of continuing down the path of clean, radio-friendly production, When Rivers Meet chose to deliberately break their own mold. Their fifth studio album, Rhythm Rust & Static, is an aggressive, breathtaking pivot. It strips away the varnish to deliver an unfiltered assault on the senses.

The Sound: Back to the Dirt

Rhythm Rust & Static is a masterclass in creative restraint and artistic self-reliance. Recorded at Boathouse Studio in Suffolk alongside producer Adam “Ads” Bowers and long-time collaborator James Fox, the band imposed strict creative limitations on themselves. There are no synthetic studio tricks or endless, artificial tracking layers here. What you hear on the record is exactly what you get live: a lean, primal three-piece powerhouse consisting of Grace, Aaron, and Fox.The sonic landscape is unashamedly rough, scratchy, and analogue-inspired. It shifts completely away from standard blues fare into a hybrid territory where roots music, heavy garage-grunge, punk grit, and one-man-band dynamics collide. At a low volume, the record’s compressed, highly overdriven guitar tones feel like an itch you can’t quite scratch. Turn it up, however, and the mix explodes out of your speakers with the raw, claustrophobic energy of a live band playing in a packed basement.

Track Highlights

The album consists of 10 tracks written for the road. The standout singles anchor its emotional weight:

  • “The Script” – A track that rightfully earned Classic Rock Magazine’s Track of the Week. It’s driven by dirty, heavily distorted riffs and an unrelenting attitude.

  • “The Tide Is Turning” – An introspective yet forward-looking anthem that explores navigating uncertainty and trusting instinct over a calculated destination.

  • “Caught In The Middle” – The crown jewel of the album’s pre-release tracks. Built around a dark, deeply hypnotic groove, the song perfectly captures the psychological tension of being pulled between your head and your heart, knowing you should walk away from a situation but feeling magnetically drawn back in.

Grace and Aaron’s Unmatched Chemistry

The vocal dynamic between Aaron and Grace Bond remains the beating heart of When Rivers Meet. Aaron provides a gritty, grounded vocal foundation and roaring rhythm guitar work that acts as the perfect foil to Grace’s towering performance.

Grace is an absolute force of nature across these 10 tracks. Her voice leaps aggressively from the compressed instrumentation, alternating effortlessly between vulnerable, soft folk inflections and a full-throated, gospel-tinged rock powerhouse. When she punctuates the raw blues energy with her sharp violin and mandolin accents, the band achieves a distinct, haunting atmosphere that Classic Rock beautifully described as “The White Stripes reimagined by Tim Burton.”

When Rivers Meet

“This record takes us right back to our roots—raw, rough and real. We set out to capture the gritty blues-rock energy that defines our live sound.” – Grace & Aaron Bond
