Hot on the heels of their highly praised 2025 record Asphodels, The Veils are back with a fearless, high-energy new album titled Fragile World. Launching a mere year after their previous work, this upcoming LP represents a dramatic evolution in the group’s musical direction and vibe.
The album was tracked live to tape in New Zealand by engineer Paddy Hill and produced by Tom Healy (known for his work with Tiny Ruins, The Chills, and Folk Bitch Trio). The resulting tracks showcase The Veils at their most spontaneous and driven.
The moniker Fragile World serves a dual purpose: it mirrors our current global landscape—where long-standing systems seem to be fracturing—and symbolizes the creative journey itself. Frontman Finn Andrews points out that crafting music is an inherently precarious endeavor, built on thousands of minor choices that eventually fuse into a complete piece of art.
“We entered the studio with a wealth of material but almost no blueprint for the instrumentation or arrangements,” Andrews shares. “There was a genuine thrill in having no clue how the album would turn out, with only a handful of weeks to piece it together. For the most part, it’s just Tom and me handling the instruments, with occasional contributions from Joseph McCallum. The process was deeply intuitive, incredibly intense, and occasionally terrifying—but a thrilling kind of fear, unlike the anxiety of the outside world.”
With its gripping immediacy, raw power, and profound emotional resonance, Fragile World is shaping up to be one of the most mesmerizing chapters in The Veils’ discography.
