Release Date: June 26, 2026
The most immediate characteristic of Devil’s Bowl is its intentionally out-of-focus, raw production. Tracked by Knowlton at “The Swamp” studio and mastered by Nicholas Bolton, the record rejects the polished, hyper-compressed sheen of commercial alternative rock, relying instead on a dense, texturally abrasive landscape:
The Guitars: Detuned until they simultaneously shimmer and scrape, the guitars move between low-slung industrial grinds and sharp, angular post-punk stabs.
The Rhythm Section: The basslines carry the melodic weight of the record like an approaching weather front. Rhythms walk a tense line between mechanical programming and organic breathing, aided on select tracks by long-time collaborator Peter Gordon on drums.
The Vocals: The interplay between Knowlton and Grimm provides the album’s emotional anchor. Opting for a deadpan, detached delivery, the vocals drift effortlessly between spoken-word reportage, hypnotic incantations, and sharp, distant accusations.
